The IELTS Test (International English Language Testing System)

IELTS is an internationally accepted English language test which assesses whether your English language skills are strong enough to commence studying at a university or college in an English speaking country, such as Australia, New Zealand, or Canada. An IELTS score may be required for Visa purposes in Australia.

There are four subjects – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking and you will receive a result on a scale from 1 – 9 for each subject. The four scores are averaged, and this is your Overall Band Score.

All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking modules however there is a choice of Reading and Writing modules, according to whether the candidate is taking the Academic or General Training version of the test. The latter contains simpler language and concepts.

If you are unable to attend an intensive English language course, you will need the advice of a qualified Tutor who is a native speaker of English. I can offer flexible lesson times to suit your schedule, and one-to-one teaching, to help you achieve the IELTS score that you need. I can identify your areas of weaker English ability, and guide you on how to improve.

Language is an interaction between two or more people, so practice with a study-partner is very important. If that study partner is your qualified tutor, you will receive a lot of valuable guidance in the context of the conversations and practice work. You may ask as many questions as you wish.

If you can come to tutoring sessions with a friend who is of similar English language level to you, a discount can be arranged.

Lessons are 90 minutes duration, and the cost is $55.00 for one person.
